Course goals: The student shall meet basic knowledge in Mathematics equivalent to Mathematics 2 in upper secondary school. This is to be eligible to study in a higher vocational education program. Course content: * Motivation and use of the conjugate and squaring rules. * Broadening or deepening of mathematical concepts and methods relevant to vocational subjects and working life. * The equation of a straight line. Methods for determining linear functions. * The concept of a linear system of equations. Methods for solving linear systems of equations. * Measures of central tendency and measures of spread. * Methods for solving quadratic equations. * The concept of a power function. * Motivation and use of the rules for powers. Methods for solving power equations. * The concept of a quadratic function and the properties of quadratic functions, including line of symmetry, extreme point and zeros. * Application and formulation of mathematical models in realistic situations. Evaluation of the properties and limitations of mathematical models. * Problem solving involving the concepts and methods of the course.
