During this lecture led by Alf Tumble, the participant has gained an in-depth understanding of Nebbiolo with regard to viticulture, climate, geology, production and the styles of the wines from Piemonte and other origins. During the day we tasted around 20 wines.

  1. The Champagne region

    Geography, terroir, climate and the conditions that characterise the region.

  2. Grapes and styles

    The permitted grape varieties and how they are expressed in different champagne styles.

  3. The production process

    From grape to finished champagne, with a focus on the method that gives mousse, aroma and taste.

  4. Négociants and growers

    The difference between large champagne houses and grower champagne and how their ways of working affect quality and expression.

  5. Tasting

    Structured tasting and comparison of selected, sometimes very special, champagnes.
